Panama and Cancun – Latin Airports with more International passage


Cancun International Airport was ranked second in Latin America with more international flights, below Panama, and in third place including domestic flights, according to the report on Capacity Analysis of Latin America and the Caribbean 2014 conducted by the Association Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport (ALTA).This report highlighted the potential of Cancun airport not only last year, but in the last 10, making it the 13th with the fastest growth and flights. The ALTA study placed Cancun in third place with a 6.1% increase in international and domestic flights in the last 10 years. Now it has 107 thousand.

The promotion to attract international tourists bears fruit, since in the last 10 years have arrived more than 66 thousand 350 airplanes. Panama, which heads the list, has managed to capture 110 thousand 306 aircraft, as it has seating capacity of almost three million more than Cancun, Sipse said.

The total of seats of international flights that arrive to the Mexican Caribbean is of 11 million 292 thousand. In 2013 alone, growth of 6% was achieved by adding 627 thousand more. The seats they share between these cities are 574 thousand offered by the airline Copa.
